AAAPCC promotes pastoral care and counselling within
the Dioceses of the Church of England
The constitution states that the primary aims of
AAAPCC are:
"To represent those appointed in Diocesan posts
described as or broadly equivalent to Bishop’s/ Diocesan Advisor in Pastoral
Care and Counselling within the Church of England
"To urge that such appointments be made
"To define and promote high standards in the
provision of pastoral care and counselling, and in its training, and to
encourage the consistent monitoring of the counselling, care and training
being offered within Dioceses

“To be a professional body able to
speak with authority for its members and to provide a
network and effective support for them, as well as exploring
issues of accountability in this field
“To provide information, codes of practice and ethics
and statements about practice, for members, for the Church in general and
for Bishops, in the fields of pastoral care and counselling
“To seek co-operation with, and to work alongside,
other Christian employees in the field and also with non-diocesan agencies
concerned with pastoral care and counselling
“To set up working parties, and sub-committees as
required, for exploring and implementing practical policies, (including the
planning of the National Conference) and for producing publications”
